What Is a Vori (Bhori)?
Vori, also spelled bhori, is the Bengali name for the same 11.6638-gram weight as a tola. It is the everyday unit for gold in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Smaller amounts are measured in ana (anna): 16 ana make one vori, so one ana is about 0.729 grams.
Jewellers in Kolkata and across Bengal often state prices per vori and quote small items such as rings and earrings in ana. Bills under BIS hallmarking still show the weight in grams, so check the gram weight on your invoice.
